Learning Disability Services

At New Dawn Care, we’ve been providing high-quality, person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities for over eight years. Our services are flexible and tailored to meet a wide range of needs — from community-based support for more independent individuals to intensive support for those with complex needs, including challenging behaviours, dual diagnoses, autism, and physical or sensory impairments.

We work closely with families, carers, and professionals to deliver co-ordinated and responsive care. Regular service user forums promote active participation, ensuring the voices of those we support are heard and valued. Our approach aligns with the principles of Valuing People and Valuing People Now, focusing on rights, choice, inclusion, and independence.

We champion Person Centred Planning (PCP), where individuals lead the development of their own support plans. Our staff are trained in PCP methods such as ELP, PATH, and MAP, and also in specialist communication techniques including BSL, Makaton, and PECS — ensuring that every service user, regardless of verbal ability, can express their preferences and shape their care.

Autism Support Services

New Dawn Care also specialises in providing innovative, person-centred services for individuals on the autism spectrum. Our support is uniquely tailored to each person, taking into account not only their daily needs but also how their sensory environment affects their well-being.

We work collaboratively with families and professionals — including therapists, psychologists, and behavioural specialists — to develop holistic, meaningful support plans. Transitions are handled with care, ensuring smooth moves from family homes or residential placements into new living arrangements.

Effective communication is at the heart of our autism services. Our staff use a variety of communication aids, including Makaton, BSL, PECS, TEACCH, and communication passports, to ensure all individuals are understood and supported.

We involve service users and families in staff recruitment, ensuring we find the right people with the right values. All staff complete comprehensive training in health and social care, learning disabilities, and autism-specific development programmes to provide the highest standard of support.
